The 2010 Division 6 regatta season kicks off with Ides of March regatta on March 27th-28th at Welch Park, Lake Somerville.

This is the location where we held Wayward Winds and the sailing clinic last year. If you've been sailing down at Surfside, c'mon and rinse some of the salt out of your rigging in the fresh water!

Welch park has tent and RV camping facilities.

KO Sailing wanted to thank the local cat sailors for supporting the local store.  They also wanted to bring their support trailer to the clinic in June but unfortunately they have a conflicting event.  So.......they are making a special offer to all the cat sailors.  On Saturday May 22 KO Sailing is offering free boat inspections at their store.  Then they will also give you 10% of any parts and gear that you need or want.  Best part is if you need something before the clinic there will be time for the friendly staff at KO to get it in for you.

This late winter pilgrimage to Mustang Island State Park has been scheduled for February 19 - 21. 

Once again it is time for the anual "Learn to Sail Clinic" hosted by the Texas City Dike Yacht Club.  The class will include classroom or beachhouse instruction on Saturday morning starting at 9:00.  See below for directions to the beach house.  Immediately following the classroom instructions we will begin boat inspections on the beach at or near the Public Beach Access 3.  We will then have on the water instruction for the rest of the day on Saturday.  We wrap up Saturday with debreifing on the beach which I am sure will be followed by a bonfire of some sort.&nbsp

The first social event of the year has been planned.  Come join the Texas City Dike Yacht Club at the 10 mile spot for a bonfire Dike style.  Bring your friends and bring your family.  Bring your wife or bring your girlfriend.  Bring both of them if you dare.  There might even be some fire jumping.  If you have any wood you want to burn bring it on out.  Still have that Christmas tree laying around? bring it out!  Got an old couch you need to git rid of?  Come sit on it, and then throw it in the fire.  Flaming to begin at or just after dusk.

Okay thanks to Scott Tuma we now have a name for our regatta.  This is going to be a really fun format race racing from Surfside to a point.  Having a beach party with lunch and then racing back.  On Sunday we will have a "around the cans" style of racing.  The date has now officially change.....sorry Teddy.  I know you wanted to race on your birthday.  But now on your birthday you can sit back and look at your trophy.

In 2010 there will be at least one significant change to TCDYC over the past couple of years.  We will meet once a quarter starting January the 23 to discuss club business.  These meeting will be open to all TCDYC members as we want all members to have an opportunity to voice their ideas and/or concerns.  The first meeting will be at the Casey abode and will start around 6.  The address is 1701 Mulberry Drive in Richmond, Texas.  Zip code is 77469.  There will be some sort of food and beverage so if you are coming please let me know so I can plan in advance.&nb

Come on a start the new year in style by joining Collin, Ernest and other TCDYC die-hards who will be sailing at Welch Park, Lake Somerville on New years day. The weather forecast for Friday is looking promising (use the link below to keep up with it).. I would be there but have to be on call with work for the next two weeks - and Somerville is a little too far to make it into work within 1/2 hour (even if Santa had bought me a helicopter).

 

Sorry for the Christmas outage of the site. One of the reindeers upset the milk and cookies over the server.

Actually I decided to make a system software upgrade while making Christmas dinner. Instead of making a good backup and carefully testing the upgrade I jumped right in to git-r-done - and promptly screwed up the server big style.

We have also lost about 1 weeks of posts.
